Be Prepared

Journal Entry Date: June 19, 1996

“You caught me. I skipped a few days. Whenever my wife is away, I am continually amazed at how much she does for this family. She’s been in Glorietta, NM for just 3 days, and I’m exhausted! I thank God for this time apart so I don’t become complacent and take her for granted.

I was talking with someone at work the other day, who was amazed that my wife and I have only been married a little more than a handful of years… that we seemed so comfortable around each other. My response was that it was only possible because of Jesus… because of our faith and trust in Jesus, and our faith and trust with each other.

In my Bible reading tonight, I came across some verses in Isaiah 65 and Ezekiel 18 that I don’t quite follow. I need to research these more so I can try to understand them more fully, but I’m skipping over those verses tonight. I’m too tired and need to go to bed.

I should send D.C. a card to encourage him as a new believer. What a testimony that man has! I must be faithful to continue in prayer for him.”

Author’s Note: My wife continues to amaze me as much today as she did when I wrote this journal entry back in 1996. As I reflect on this entry, it reminds me of how we are to “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” as it says in 1 Peter 3:15. People are watching and become curious when they observe something that seems “different.” Those become opportunities to share Jesus. I encourage you to live in a manner that honors God, and be bold to share Jesus whenever someone notices.
